The Ways A Blogger Can Make Money Online Today

The bloggers today, as compared to those in 1997, are a lucky bunch. Simply because, bloggers today get paid to blog. When I started my first website then, the only revenue that a person can earn from the internet was through banner advertising. And to have your site qualify for one, would require that you receive a high number of traffic daily. Fast forward to 2006, there still isn’t much change to the pre-requisites needed when it comes to banner ads.

The good news however, is that websites with lower traffic are not left out of the money-making bandwagon.

If you were online the same time as I was, and still remember CDNow.com, then you might have heard about their affliate program which they started back in 1994. Unfortunately, this program never really had a flying start. While other ways of making online income surfaced as the years went by, it wasn’t until the introduction of Google Adsense in 2003 that gave everyone an almost equal chance of making money online. The only difference was, the size of the paycheck.

And now with Web 2.0, bloggers are really the ones benefiting from it. Not to mention, having the best of both worlds. Almost every site I visit either has contextual advertising, or affiliate programs or both. If that isn’t enough, how about getting paid to write reviews? With services like ReviewMe to hit the shelf recently, bloggers can now get paid an amount just to write an honest review about an advertiser’s products or services.

On the RSS side, bloggers also get to monetize their feeds through Feedvertising, a new way of advertising where text-link ads appear at the bottom of RSS feeds. Using this, bloggers can sell ad spots, promote affiliate programs and personal ads, or use a combination of these to maximize their sales and exposure.

When has there ever been a better time than now that a blogger can make a full-time income with part-time blogging?

I also highly recommend LinkWorth. It’s a text link advertising company that beats their competition (Text Link Ads, Text Link Brokers) hands down. I use LinkWorth to not only monetize my sites, but to advertise them as well.

I recommend AdsBay, it gives you full control over what is sold when and also maximises your advertising revenue by using an auction format. You can also sell ad space in any format/medium.
